A review of the methodologies and influence variables in the evaluation of hand strength

Abstract

Many problems in the interface hand-object are derived from the lack of reliable parameters of hand strength. Several studies that evaluate this interface still present problems of validity and reliability of its results. Thus, this study had as a goal to verify the methodological variables that may influence these researches. It can be observed that the positioning of the subject, the choice of the equipment, the data collection and analysis procedures, amongst other variables, can influence the achieved results. A better standardization of the methodological procedures can contribute expressively for the establishment of more reliable references on the hand strength.
Keywords:hand strength, methodology, ergonomic design
