Resumo

O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi investigar a influência do graffiti em um projeto tipográfico analisando como pode ser utilizado nas diferentes mídias. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa exploratória por meio de estudos de diferentes tipos de escritas das tribos urbanas e famílias tipográficas que acreditávamos possuir relação formal com esses graffitis. A escolha da tipografia Degrassi se deu pela sua relação com os graffitis fotografados na cidade de São Paulo. Foi possível identificar as influências que levaram o tipógrafo Ray Larabie a desenvolver a fonte Degrassi, apontando semelhanças com os diversos estilos de graffiti, principalmente o free style: fontes display, que são lidas a partir de uma considerável distância, possuem curvas acentuadas, irregulares e serifas destacadas. A pesquisa aponta o sucesso da transposição da cultura urbana para um projeto tipográfico em meio digital.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the influence of the graffiti in a typography project, analysing how it could be used in the different media. It was an exploratory research by different kinds of urban writing and typography families that we believed had gotten formal relation with the graffiti. The Degrassi typography choice had to do with its relation with the graffit found in São Paulo, city. It was possible to identify the influences that took Ray Labie, typography, to develop the source Degrassi, indicating resemblance with the different styles of graffiti, mainly free style: display sources are read from a considerable distance, they have got accentuated curves, irregular and bolded “SERIFAS”. The research shows the success of the urban culture transposition for a typographyc project in the digital environment.
