O Processo de Design

Resumo

O presente artigo questiona modelos do processo iterativo de design que o apresentam como desenvolvendo-se linear, ordenada e metódicamente, argumentando que sua lógica cartesiana e modernista pressupõe sujeitos (clientes, designers e público) descontextualizados, ahistóricos, assexuados, estáticos e não-contraditórios, em sua tentativa de encontrar validade universal para aqueles modelos. Propõe-se, ao invés, que o processo de design deva ser visto como uma prática social heterogênea, tanto de afirmação como de mudança do status quo, e que, quando criativa, se inspira na diferença, tirando partido do acaso, do êrro e de todos os fatores que caracterizam a subjetividade.

Abstract

This article questions certain models which present the iterative process of design as if it occurred in a linear, orderly and methodic f ashion, arguing that the Cartesian and modernistic logic which underlies them pressupposes decontextualized, ahistorical, sexless, static and non-contradictory subjects (c!ients, designers and the public), in its attempt to achieve universal validity for those models. We propose, instead, that the design process be viewed as an heterogeneous social practice which may affirm, as well as change, the status quo, and which is inspired, when creative, by the concept of difference, taking advantage of chance, errors and ali factors which characterize subjectivity itself.
