Contemplado num programa de bioeconomia, Cuia Colab realizou experimentos de Biodesign com cuias, objetos artesanais de raízes indígenas ancestrais. Tais experimentos empregaram a biofabricação, técnica que envolve a colaboração com organismos vivos, para moldar os frutos durante sua fase de crescimento. A metodologia visa a revisão do projeto, que combina a pesquisa histórica do processo de produção de cuias, a interação direta com as árvores num contexto de bioeconomia, e a observação participativa das artesãs tradicionais.
