Therefore, this research aimed to identify design contributions to strategy formulation and to review consolidated positions in this industry. If industries change and mature, the object of this study was to identify design in these circumstances. It is believed that design may be influenced and limited by maturity; as well as, it is speculated about ways of questioning with this restrictive logic. To study the theme, an integrative approach was used, and a bibliographic review in design management, strategic design and business management was done. The research contributes to the field of design by advancing the theory on the role of design in mature industries.
