Methodologically, it falls within the broad category of qualitative studies, specifically in the form of philosophical inquiry. The processed data were primarily obtained from specialized literature on scientific methodology, supplemented by subject matter commonly taught in graduate courses. Results indicate that scientific texts tend to exhibit mostly deductive logic. However, for example, the inclusion of respondents in qualitative research samples may reveal a predominantly inductive approach. Also considered valuable were instances of adjustments, realignments, and corrections, in which the notion of mistakes play a guiding role. The investigation concludes that a sensitive and judicious alternation between inductive and deductive mental modes, mediated by instances of error identification and subtraction, is desirable in the heuristics of scientific research processes in design and in design projects.","Induction, Deduction, and Error in Design Scientific Research Processes",{"keywords":28,"excerpt":29,"title":30},"\u003Cp>processos heurísticos na ciência em design, metodologia de pesquisa científica em design, indução, dedução e erro\u003C/p>","Este artigo busca sistematizar aspectos do planejamento e desenvolvimento de pesquisas acadêmicas em design, com especial atenção à manifestação das figuras da indução, da dedução e do erro. Ele se insere, metodologicamente, na categoria dos estudos qualitativos, na modalidade de inquérito filosófico. Os dados processados foram obtidos, sobretudo, por meio da literatura especializada em metodologia científica, complementados por apontamentos de aula em cursos de mestrado e doutorado. Resultados indicam que textos científicos tenderiam a apresentar lógica essencialmente dedutiva. Já, por exemplo, inclusão de respondentes na amostra de pesquisas qualitativas pode revelar tônica predominantemente indutiva. Também resultam valiosas as instâncias de ajustes, realinhamentos e correções, em que a figura do erro teria papel colaborativo.
