It highlights the historiographical challenges posed by its chronological and geographical scope. This examination includes consideration of some critical reviews that acknowledge the work's importance for design history research and education, while also noting its shortcomings and limitations. Broadly speaking, Margolin expands the orthodox perspective of design history – centered on the industrialization of the Global North – to incorporate cultures from other regions and historical periods. His pluralistic approach redefines design as a fundamental human activity shaping the entirety of material culture. Despite the theoretical and methodological challenges inherent in any comprehensive history, Margolin's work is widely recognized for its significant contributions to the discipline, its opening of new research avenues, and its provision of a rich foundation for future studies.","Victor Margolin's World History of Design and Its Problems
"
História do design, Teoria do design, Cultura material
7123
https://storage.googleapis.com/memoria-ped.appspot.com/articles%2F15_pd_design_2024%2F16410_9981.pdf","16410_9981.pdf",[53,56,59,62,65,68,71,74,77,80,83,86,89
24cf2c6c-66e4-45fd-a58b-01a22a61e8ab","
ADAMSON, Glenn. World History of Design (2 vols.), Victor Margolin. West 86th: A Journal of Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture, v. 22, n. 2, 2015.

aaeeca88-9e1c-4c2b-b1ae-c781147115ff","
AMES, Kenneth. In order to organize concurrent conceptions of the field, we make use – in addition to the idea of design as a field – of the figures of the line and the point. Thought as a line, design corresponds to a basic discipline to all specializations, and, as point, design becomes the meeting place of different knowledges and practices aimed at the creation and transformation of organizations. We identify the issue of the field as being fundamental for some design professionals and educators after the Second World War, when problems of greater scale and complexity began to demand new approaches and design methods; and the organization as the main social entity responsible since then for the world we inhabit, namely, the artificial or human-made world.","Point, Line and Field: Three Ways of Seeing the Field of Design
"
Campo do design, Teoria do design, Design Organizacional
