Resumo
O artigo argumenta que o desenho industrial pode contribuir para a melhoria da agricultura familiar, através da adequação de equipamentos a essas populações e, desta forma, incrementar e permitir que a produção rural em pequena escala possa atingir maiores graus de eficiência. Ele resultou de uma pesquisa desenvolvida no contexto de um assentamento rural – o Projeto de Reforma Agrária de Redenção, no município de Pilões-Paraíba. Nesta perspectiva, a pesquisa estabeleceu uma interação entre os desenhistas industriais e os pequenos agricultores no sentido de descobrir e buscar soluções para os problemas inovativos locais relacionados a equipamentos agrícolas. O uso da metodologia da pesquisa-ação no estudo em foco proporcionou a obtenção de resultados estimulantes na direção da prática de um desenho industrial mais participativo.

Abstract
The paper argues that industrial design can contribute to the improvement of subsistence agriculture through the adjustments to equipment aimed at these populations and thus increment and allow small scale rural production to have a higher degree of efficiency. The paper is the result of research conducted in a rural settlement context – The Agrarian Reform Project of Redenção – in the Pilões Municipality in Paraíba state. From this perspective it established an interaction between industrial designers and small farmers to find solutions for the local innovative problems related to agricultural equipment. The use of participatory methods of research in the study resulted in stimulating perspectives in the direction of a more participative industrial design.
