Resumo

O estudo das relações entre iluminação, caráter e emoção tem merecido destaque nas pesquisas de lighting design voltadas para estimulação dos sentidos dos usuários. No contexto em que se fala de uma economia da experiência, a transcendência da mera funcionalidade é fundamental. Este artigo visa discutir a importância destes conceitos organizando a luz em três categorias segundo de seu papel na arquitetura: luz para valorizar, para comunicar e para emocionar. A partir desta análise critica buscamos maior entendimento do potencial da luz para estimular os sentidos dos usuários e qualificar o trabalho de lighting design.

Abstract

The study of relations between lighting, character and emotion has been crucial in research on lighting design focused on stimulation of user ́s senses. In the context where one refers to an experience economy, the transcendence of mere functionality is fundamental This paper discusses the importance of these concepts, organizing light into three categories depending of its role in architecture: light to valorize, to communicate and to provoke user ́s emotions. From this critical analysis we seek greater understanding of the potential of light to stimulate users' senses and enhance the work of lighting design.
