Resumo

Este trabalho faz uma reflexão sobre a história do Design e seu diálogo com a História. Inicialmente, serão tratados conceitos-base da historiografia, assim como abordagens de historiadores sobre o mundo dos objetos. Em seguida, essa área será estudada, buscando formas de identificar os aspectos mais relevantes da cultura material, tanto nacional quanto internacional. Por fim, será avaliado, de forma crítica, o emprego desses conceitos pelos pesquisadores e as possibilidades de uma releitura social do Design.

Abstract

This paper propose a reflection about how can the history of design communicate with history. First, there will be analyzed the main concepts of historiography, as well as the study of historians about the world of the objects. Then, the design area will be studied looking for ways to identify the main aspects of the national and international material culture. Finally, the researcher's use of the concepts of history and the possibility of a social reinterpretation of the history of design will be critically evaluated.
