Resumo

Esta pesquisa propõe reflexões sobre a criação no letreiramento e no design de tipos, sob o viés do corpo. Ao investigar traços de subjetividade encontrados no processo de criação no design de fontes e do letreiramento e expandindo a ideia de corpo, vê-se que ele mesmo, o corpo, se apresenta como elemento fundamental na criação. Mas é um corpo multidimensional, e, portanto, complexo, pois envolve a relação com o ambiente, a cognição, os músculos, a memória, e que se revela, sobretudo através do gesto. A intimidade com o ofício, o comprometimento com o trabalho e o desenho decorrente dele são algumas das considerações ressaltadas aqui.

Abstract

This paper presents thoughts about an investigation on lettering and typeface creation, approaching it through the body. By researching traces of subjectivity found in typeface and lettering creation and expanding the idea of the body, one sees that the body is a key element in the creation. But this is a multidimensional body, i.e., complex one, which involves relationship with environment, cognition, muscles, memory, and which reveals itself through the gesture. The intimacy and commitment to the craftwork and the drawing resulted from it are some of the points discussed here.
