Abstract
Advances in the field of technology and science has been reflected in the textile area through the development of new fibres accompanying the consumer market behaviour for news as well as functional and aesthetic values. The consolidation of this area has resulted on the emergence of a new area of research, the smart textiles. The research aims to explore this area focusing on Shape memory materials - SMM (materials with memory in order) and their main applications and developments in the textile and clothing area identifying new opportunities and adjustments to be made.
