Resumo

Este artigo discute o Design como um campo de pesquisa potencial para traduzir elementos da computação e a linguagem por ela utilizada, integrando conceitos sobre data-driven Design (DDD) e Inteligência Artificial (IA), além das perspectivas de autores como Gilbert Simondon e John Maeda. Para examinar criticamente as significativas repercussões sociais dessas tecnologias, é investigado como o campo do Design pode aprimorar essa mediação. Ao focar particularmente nos indivíduos que, embora não estejam diretamente envolvidos no desenvolvimento tecnológico dos dispositivos, interagem diariamente com essas tecnologias sem compreender a totalidade de suas implicações (especialmente no que diz respeito à coleta de dados pessoais). Ao integrar o DDD na análise, o artigo posiciona o Design como um mediador essencial, buscando uma compreensão mais profunda e nuançada da sua ampla influência e suas limitações inerentes em sua formação.

Abstract

This article discusses Design as a potential research field to translate elements of computing and its associated language, integrating concepts of data-driven Design (DDD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with perspectives from authors such as Gilbert Simondon and John Maeda. To critically examine the significant social repercussions of these technologies, the investigation focuses on how the field of Design can enhance this mediation. Particularly, it emphasizes individuals who, although not directly involved in the technological development of devices, interact daily with these technologies without understanding their full implications (especially concerning the collection of personal data). By integrating DDD into the analysis, the article positions Design as an essential mediator, seeking a deeper and more nuanced understanding of its broad influence and inherent limitations.
