Resumo
A apresentação de instruções visuais em bulas de medicamentos vem se tornando mais freqüente no Brasil, desde a revogação de portaria da ANVISA que restringia a utilização desse tipo de representação gráfica. Neste estudo, investigamos a compreensão de uma seqüência pictórica de procedimentos em uma bula de inalador oral. Sessenta usuários com baixo grau de escolaridade participaram da pesquisa, realizando uma consulta à bula seguida de entrevista semi-estruturada. Os resultados revelaram dificuldades no entendimento do conteúdo, das relações entre texto e imagem e da seqüência de leitura das imagens.

Abstract
The application of pictorial representations to medicine inserts has been increasing in Brazil, from the time when a directive restricting the use of images was annulated. In this study, we investigate the comprehension of a procedural pictorial sequence shown in an oral inhaler medicine insert. Sixty users with low level of literacy took part in the study, by reading the medicine insert and answering a semi-structured interview. The results revealed difficulties in understanding content, text-image relationship and reading order of the pictorial sequence.
