The projectual practice of design is supported by different areas of knowledge, such as typography. This can be defined as the creation and use of orthographic and paraorthographic symbols. The studies related to this area can take different approaches such as the use of typography, type design, vernacular types, history of the area and rescue of graphic memory, and teaching of typography. Thus, the present paper aimed to map and analyze the academic production on typography in Brazilian researches. To this end, a bibliometric analysis was carried out based on the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Database in order to visualize patterns and the development of research in typography. As a result, it was possible to demarcate consolidated approaches, such as the use of typography and the rescue of graphic memory, and to indicate incipient themes that can point to potential axes of new and relevant research, such as vernacular types, type design and teaching of typography.
